Quick Access Settings

The Reconnect and Retain quick-access chips at the right end of the status bar

At the right end of the Diagnostics Status Bar, two toggle buttons give one-click access to connection preferences you would otherwise change from the Settings panel. Because they live in the always-visible status bar, you can see and change them without opening any panel.

Each button shows its state in place: a teal icon when the setting is on, and a dimmed icon and label when it is off. Hover over a button for a tooltip describing its current state, and left-click to toggle it. When the window is narrow the text labels collapse to icons to save space, but the buttons themselves always remain visible.

Reconnect

Reconnect enabled Reconnect disabled

Reconnect toggles Auto-Reconnect. When it is on, VoidLoop ViewPoint™ automatically restores the last connected port when that device reappears. For example, after a firmware upload causes the board to re-enumerate. When it is off, you reconnect manually using the plug icon or the Connect button on the Settings panel.

This is the same preference as Auto-Reconnect on the Settings panel, changing it in either place updates the other.

Retain App-Side Configuration

Retain enabled Retain disabled

Retain toggles whether your manual configuration and overrides are kept across connections. When it is on, the adjustments you have made in the app - including derived traces, trace statistics settings, labels, reference lines, and plot and trace overrides — are preserved when a new connection starts instead of resetting. When it is off, each new connection starts from a clean configuration.

Turn Retain on when you have tuned a view you want to keep between sessions or across firmware uploads, and turn it off when you would rather every connection start fresh.

Note

Retain applies to manual, app-side configuration. Settings that the firmware sends over the [viewpoint] protocol when a connection is established are still applied as usual, however, persisted app-side configuration may override the serial settings.
